(Miami, Florida) The Independent Feature Project/Miami (IFP) and The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) present "Crafting Your Package" at Barry University, in Miami Shores, on December 7th and 8th of this year. "Crafting your Package" is an intensive two-day workshop for the film and television producer. The program is geared to both emerging artists, and mid-career professionals.

The seminar develops skills to assist the Producer in presenting a viable script to studios, networks, cable and independent funder/distributors, "Crafting Your Package" is about creating an action plan to enhance the chance of success. Lunchtime roundtables include professionals who share negotiation expertise, plus a TV series case study.


On Saturday evening, Seminar participants are invited to a reception sponsored by the Miami-Dade Mayor's Office of Film and Entertainment. "This is the best opportunity ever for Florida filmmakers to learn the elements of getting their projects financed," says Joanne Butcher, Executive Director, IFP/MIami.


Instructors include director Gary Sales (Fair Game), attorneys Joan Danto and Raùl Puig (producer Curdled), 1st AD Jim Bigham, and the producers of Los Teens and Que Pasa USA. Speakers include both local, L.A. and New York based members of the production industry: Yolanda Foster, Sr. VP of Mund2/Telemundo; Carolina Garcia Aguilera ( "Lupe Salano" detective series); Chip Diggins Sr. VP of Paramount Studios; Andy Cohen Producer/Manager and runner of Maui Writer's Conference; and Ian Corson a writer who has just sold 2 scripts and a pitch this year. Jesse Berdinka from Dimension; producer, Steve Menkin, Nely Galan, director, David Frankel, Ted Hope of This is That (formerly Good Machine), Isen Robbins of Intrinsic in New York and Osvaldo Onoz, Executive Producer at Blue Dolphin Studios.

Afternoon will be one-on-one pitching with the above execs/writers/funders.

This seminar is project based. For maximum benefit, participants should bring a script or idea already in progress or completed.

Seminar participants will also learn to budget, schedule and plan a production.

"Crafting Your Package" is a fitting prelude to the upcoming for the IFP-Miami 25K/03 Film Competition: Sunlight Production Fund. The winner of the statewide Florida contest will earn $150,000 worth of in-kind services and cash in order to make a feature film. The deadline is February 15th, 2003!

COST: $120 for IFP & NALIP members $75 for students (w/valid I.D.) $165 for non members.
