Don’t Miss this Event at Cardiff City Hall 8th & 9th October 2002!

The Media Show is coming. The first of a new annual UK show, the biggest out-of-London trade exhibition and conference for media professionals, will take place in Cardiff in October, just after IBC.

Attending the show will be a wide cross section of media professionals including production companies, TV and video producers, film companies, companies involved in broadband delivery, internet companies, new media producers, web designers, cameramen, sound recordists, editors of all types, videographers, the press and people working for the broadcasters – from senior executives to freelance film crews.

We are gaining substantial sponsor support to make sure the show is really big. It will be the only big show of its type in the autumn. Would your organisation like to be a part of it?

The Media Show will be based at the refurbished City Hall Exhibition and Conference Centre in the centre of Cardiff, close to the Millennium Stadium (home of the FA Cup), the castle and one of the best shopping centres in the UK. It’s also within walking distance of a great selection of restaurants and accommodation, everything from B&Bs to 3, 4 and 5 star hotels.

Cardiff is the second most important media centre in the UK (after London) - it has three big broadcasters, many top-rated facilities companies, dozens of production companies and hundreds of freelancers – and that’s just in the city. There will be loads of new customers waiting to meet you here, but also The Media Show will be the major gathering for film, TV, video and new media professionals from all over the UK.

The show will be free to enter as long as visitors register. Facilities will be available for on-line registration. The sponsored seminars by real industry experts will also be free. These will include a range of subjects designed to bring in large numbers of delegates. Some big-name keynote speakers are being arranged who will be getting a lot of press interest. Announcements soon.

The show will include The Media Showcase, where colleges, production companies, facility companies and broadcasters will be able to showcase their work.

The Media Show will be very high profile. We are taking lots of advertising and are submitting regular feature articles to dozens of the national trade magazines, newspapers and trade websites including Televisual, Guild of TV Cameramen Magazine and Newsletter, Crewfinder, Regional Film and Video, Pact Magazine, Focal International Magazine, BECTU Magazine, Computer Video, Camcorder User, APV, Digit, Broadcast, TV Technology and Production etc. In addition we are sending material to the main trade websites and taking buttons and banners on several sites.

We as a company are members of most of the trade organisations including Pact, TAC, IVCA, IoV, APV, LoS so we will also be using their contacts wherever possible to tell members about the show. Between all this almost everyone working in these sectors will know about the show – which should result in really good attendance figures and lots of new customers and contacts for companies exhibiting.

Many large organisations (including most of the big names in kit and services) are already supporting the event and more are committing themselves each week by booking stands, offering sponsorship, facilities and services - and we are talking big players who want to make sure that The Media Show is an event too good to miss and a big success.

The Media Show will absorb the Weston-super-Mare event The Digital Video Show (which used to be known as The Video Show and the APV Show). The shows will join up to form the much bigger Media Show, in Cardiff. This will be a 2 day event, Tuesday 8th & Wednesday 9th October 2002 (with a set-up day on Monday 7th).

Most of the companies who exhibited at The Digital Video Show in Weston will be exhibiting at The Media Show. Several large companies are now discussing sponsorship ideas including sponsoring seminars and demonstrations of kit, sponsoring the advertising and promotion and a variety of other events that will take place during The Media Show.

The Media Show is run by THE GENESIS MEDIA GROUP LTD, a marketing and PR company which is also involved in TV, video and new media production. GENESIS, ran The Digital Video Show successfully at Weston last year but decided that perhaps Weston was not the best location.

Cardiff City Hall is an excellent venue for The Media Show. It is a very impressive building (which was one of the proposed venues for the Welsh Assembly Government before they decided to commission a new building). It has two large exhibition halls (The Assembly Rooms and the Lower Hall), a dozen seminar and meetings rooms of various sizes and several reception and entrance areas (such as the Marble Hall and the Ferrier Hall). You can see pictures on our website. Imagine the building with outside-broadcast vehicles standing outside and a large barrage balloon floating above it with a banner on each side reading “TheMediaShow”.

The exhibition areas will be in the Assembly Room and the Lower Hall. The Marble Hall and the Entrance Hall will be used for display material for sponsors and exhibitors not needing such a high level of security. (The two exhibition halls will have higher security.) There will be seminars, demos and launches in the other rooms.

Exhibition costs at The Media Show have been kept much lower than most national shows of this type. A 40% deposit secures any stand position. Prices for exhibition space are as follows –

Space only: £149 per square metre

Space with shell (1, 2 or 3 sides according to position) with your name: £175 per square metre.

You are welcome to use your own display stand layout if you have one.

All spaces have 2 x 100W spotlights and one double 3 pin power socket (max loading 500W).

Additional power can be supplied.

This is the first show at this venue so we are designing the floorplan from scratch. Everyone therefore has a chance to get a good position – so first come, first served. Talk to us soon.

We will arrange reciprocal website links to the exhibitors sites so the sooner you sign up, the sooner the links will be in place, so you get the benefit of our advertising and the 100s of media professionals viewing our site. The interactive website will have live webcams added for the show. We are also setting up other high-tech ideas to turn The Media Show into a big occasion.

We are organising a variety of sponsorship deals. Also there are opportunities for sponsoring demonstrations of kit in the adjoining meetings rooms. We are happy to discuss ideas.

Would your company like to be a sponsor? Would you like to exhibit at the show?

Would you like to sponsor a future mailshot when we could include some of your own company leaflets? Mailshots will go to 1,000s of targeted TV and video professionals (production companies and freelancers) and/or new media companies. This could be a very cost-effective way of distributing your company literature.

We have a very good team on board at GENESIS. I have over 30 years experience in the broadcast and video production sectors. We have our own PR and marketing people and we will be ensuring that The Media Show is continuously in the news from now till October. To book your stand or to discuss any queries, give us a call on 029 20 666 007, fax on 029 20 666 008 or email on alan@genesis-media.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.

With best wishes
